Doctors, Cows, Soccer

I just lost the entire post......ahhhhhhh.  SO frustrating!

In a nutshell.  Logan went to doctor for tummy troubles.  He is fine.  Will do stool sample if he's not better by Friday.  This picture is him mid-yawn, not screaming
He is the cutest thing ever when he's sick.  He cuddled with me for over an hour this afternoon.
What is with my 1/2 duck lips?  Sorry about that.
Saw Santa and cows after doctor.
These two are registered for soccer in the Spring.  So.so.excited.  Season starts in February!!!

Tank will go in for mass AND lymph debulking tomorrow.  Our vet is great.

Tank

Little Tank went to the vet this morning to see what he had to say about the return of his skin lesion.  He had the same thing in the same place last January.  We had it biopsied and it came as a bad form of melanoma.  Last year it literally popped up overnight.  This year I saw it after tank went in for a groom.  I'm not sure exactly when it showed up because Tank was pretty furry, but I don't think it's been that long.  So I opted to see what the chest x rays showed.  Tank needed to get the mass removed ASAP if the scans were clear or not, but I wasn't sure I was going get his teeth done if the cancer had spread.  So the scans were completely clear.  We are going ahead with the mass removal and teeth cleaning on Wednesday.  One of the hardest things is doing a cost vs benefit on your beloved pet's health.  I was clearly distressed about the whole thing and the vet was so great.  We 100% need to get the mass taken care of.  It's starting to bleed a little.  After that we'll see what happens.

It will be a busy week.  I'm making goodies for teachers, etc.  Logan's holiday party is on Thursday but after being told Isabel can attend I was informed 3 hours later that siblings aren't allowed.  So I guess I won't be attending his party. :(  I was more upset about that than I expected.

Isabel's holiday party is also Thirsday, but after lunch.  Gotta get on making those gingerbread houses.

Day in the life

A day in the life

3am-Logan up.  Brian goes in to soothe
3:15-4:30- Brian insomnia (rare) so that I can't sleep
4:30am- Izzy has a 'not that bad ' tummy ache.  I go in to soothe
4:45am- my alarm goes off.  I ignore because I've been up for 2 hours and want to sleep.  Plus my favorite spin instructor is out today.
5:10- Logan and then izzy up.  Brian helps both out.
6:00- Logan up.  Izzy up. Ally coffee.
7:30am- frantically get Logan, izzy and tank out the door and into the car.
7:40- drop Logan off at school
8:03am- drop tank off at groomer
8:30-9:16am- Christmas shop at Kohls.
9:30am- Gym for BodyPump class.
10:45am- set oven to cook chicken nuggets and French fries for lunch
11:00am-shower while izzy watches Sophia the First on Tv.
11:15- get ready and dressed for the day.
11:30- get Logan off the bus and frantically shove lunch into 2 little mouths
11:40am- try not to be late for therapy.
12  - phew!  Made it on time!
12:10-1:00pm- grocery shop
1:00pm- pick up tank from groomer
1:30pm- pick up Maddie from preschool
1:50pm- pick up Logan from therapy
2:15-3:15pm- snacks, unload groceries, drop off Tank at home
3:30pm-5:30pm- Locomotion.  A local inflatable bounce house place.
5:45pm- drop off Maddie
6:00pm- heat up leftovers for dinner
6:30-7:00pm- bath and PJs
7-7:45pm (late for out new schedule)-TV
7:45pm - izzy book and bed.  Logan massive meltdown about not getting a juice box.  Mommy reinforcements are needed.  Finally bed.
8:30pm- Logan screaming.  Water cup leaked.  Sheet change and luckily minimal problem getting back to sleep.

That was pretty much my day.  I am really trying to work on time management and not getting so stressed about rushing to places.  If I'm 5 or even (gasp) 10 minutes late...it's ok.  I felt like today was an exceptionally busy and stressed day.  I was running around for the majority of the day.  I hate that.  Would rather have been snuggling with my 2 littlest on the couch.

I also put a call into the vet because it appears that the skin cancer in Tank's lip has returned.  :(. He will go in on Monday to see the doctor.

Still cold

I love that it's still cold (sort of).  The high today was 46.  Yes, I will not be sweating when I walk to get the mail.

Last night we had one of Brian's coworkers over for dinner. I made some pretty good chili, cheddar biscuits and cornbread.  I was able to send Don off with lots of leftover chili and lots of chocolate chip cookies.  Isabel really helped making them and for the first time in almost ever they turned out awesome! Dare I say almost as good as Meredith's recipe?  Logan and Isabel both had really good days, but Logan melted down right in time for dinner.  Luckily our dinner guest has 4 kids and was very understanding.

Thursday we are celebrating Isabel's teacher's birthday.  I'm bringing both teachers lunch and cupcakes.  I stole an idea from last year and am bringing in a vase so that each student can being in a flower to fill he vase.  Hopefully it'll be a nice, unique arrangement.

We also have holiday parties next week.  Logan's is from 8-8:45am.  Not sure what I have to being for that yet.  Isabel's is next Thursday.  I'm making 21 gingerbread house 'frames' out of graham crackers with the other room mom.

I suppose I should start thinking about teacher/therapist/mail carrier/bus driver/Etc gifts.  Maybe some Christmas crack?  I need to check out Pinterest for some inexpensive ideas.

Our Elf on the Shelf, Twinkle Sparkle, has been pretty unoriginal at popping up each morning on new places.  Izzy's favorite has been on the milk jug.  One night I want to gift wrap the toilet....need more motivation for that.
I think he liked his special hot chocolate!

Chicken and Dumplings were amazing! And Chuys.

Last night the Chicken and Dumplings I made were ah.ma.zing.  For real.  So yummy!  I used this recipe from Crockin Girls.  I omitted the bouillon cubes because I didn't have any and found that the biscuit pieces needed at least 2 hours to cook on HIGH.  Pretty sure I also used more onion, celery and carrots than it called for, but I'm not about to measure those and the kids eat them...the more the merrier!

Ingredients

  • 4 Chicken Breasts (boneless, skinless)
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 Can Cream of Chicken Soup
  • 1 Can Cream of Celery Soup
  • 3 1/2 Cups Chicken Broth
  • 1 Onion, finely diced
  • 1 Cup Celery, diced
  • 1 Cup Carrots, diced
  • 2 Chicken bouillon cube
  • 10 Ounces Can of Biscuits, but you can make your own

Directions

  1. Step One

EXCLUDING THE BISCUITS put all ingredients in, then cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours.
  2. Step Two

About an hour (give or take) before serving, remove chicken and pull into pieces and return to the soup mixture.
  3. Step Three

Place the torn biscuit dough in and cook until the dough is no longer raw in the center. **I found this to be 2 hours on HIGH.***

Today I took Isabel to a birthday party and then we headed to Chuys with Logan.  He has been asking to go to Chuys for some time, so we finally relented.  They both got...cheeseburgers.  Really?  At least I got some delicious shrimp chile rellenos.  And we have leftovers for dinner and possibly lunch tomorrow.
We found our copy of "The Polar Express!"

We also watched Uncle Matt and Aunt Lindsay's wedding DVD.  We have been asked our opinion on the DVD for some time, so we finally watched it today.  It was cute and the kids loves seeing themselves on TV.  Such a special day.

Baby It's Cold Outside

It was 25 degrees when it went to the gym this morning.  That's cold for Texas! It was cold all day today.  We just needed to head out and get a birthday present for a bday party tomorrow.  We spent the rest of the day inside sipping hot chocolate and watching Christmas movies and football.

I'm pretty excited about the chicken and dumplings slow cooking in the crock pot.  Can't wait for dinner!

Nailed It.

This Chicken and Dumplings was by far the best batch yet.  I added a couple tablespoons of butter and cooked the biscuits for 2 hours on high.  Delicious!  Reminds me of this chicken wrapped crescent rolled casserole my mom makes.

This was after we demolished it.

Thanksgiving

What a great Thanksgiving!  Brian came home early and we headed off into the traffic around 12:30pm Wednesday afternoon.

We got to Gramma and Grampa's house around 4pm.  We went upstairs for the big train reveal.  Oh my gosh.  My dad and mom have been working on this train se for a long time.  They probably have 100+ hours into the project.  It was so cool.  Logan was in heaven.  It was pretty awesome.  Izzy was pretty stoked too.

I had plans to meet up with coworkers from UT.  One of the ladies now works at the DPS crime lab in Houston.  I missed the lab tour, but heard some 'fun' stories.  After dinner and lots of laughs and meeting her 2 year old (ridiculously well behaved and adorable) daughter I headed back to my parents house with a nice headache.  I blame the Houston traffic.  I can't handle that anymore.  Madness.

Thursday I woke up and headed off to the 'Run Through the Woods' Thanksgiving 5 mile run.  I ran this 2 years ago during marathon training and right after running 7 miles TO the race and still ran this year 5 minutes slower.  Man I miss being in awesome running shape.  I got a text that Jenn and my parents were waiting for me at the finish line!  How fun is that?!  My sister flew in from Florida and her flight arrived at 7:50am!  I felt really great after the race, so definitely could have pushed a lot harder, but coming off of a nasty infection I didn't want to go too hard.  Plus I had food to eat.

We all headed to the Hawkes' house for Thanksgiving dinner.  So nice of them to host.  Everyone ate and had a good time and then it was time to rest.  Or watch football.

Friday I did some online shopping but wasn't into the Black Friday madness.  I HATE that stores are opening on Thursday now for 'Black Friday.'  So silly.  I still scored some good deals online in the comfort of a warm house sipping coffee.  Can't beat that!  We also saw the movie "Frozen."  So cute.  Izzy loved it and is asking when it comes out on DVD so that she can see it again.  Logan sat through the movie.  Barely.  He was asking to go home numerous times, but I was able to distract him and finish it.

Saturday we watched football.

Sunday we went to 'coffee and cars' and had lunch at Rico's.  Of course.  Logan got a haircut and Brian and Grandpa went to Best Buy to look at 'stuff.'  We drove home Sunday evening and everyone was tired.  So nice to be spoiled at Gramma and Grampa's house.

Such a great holiday.  So glad my sister was able to fly in for it.  The kids have missed Aunt Jenn!

The house is still a mess, but I don't care!  Back to the routine this week.
