Logan's Therapy

I got a call yesterday from Logan's OT's office.  Apparently Logan has 3 sessions left before his insurance runs out for the calendar year.  I knew this was going to happen, but for some reason I thought we had another couple of months.  The receptionist is super nice and gave us some options a) try and get more sessions from insurance. b) switch to private pay and cut down his session frequency or c) take a break for a bit.

It's funny, I've finally been seeing some real progress with Logan.  The progress has been very very slow, but in the past 2-3 weeks I've really noticed improvement.  So I find it ironic that this is the week we get notice that therapy could end soon.  I'll break down exactly what our cost is under our insurance plan.  We pay 20% of all OT sessions.  This comes out to about $40/week.  This is after we met our $500 deductible.  We also pay $30/week for speech therapy.  So our total (after meeting our deductibles) is $70/week or about $280/month.  If we have to switch to private pay we will be paying $720/month for speech and OT.  Yeah, that hurts.

I put in a request for additional OT visits, but the billing lady said that our plan has a 'hard rule' about the number of visits.  I guess that means we don't have a good chance at getting additional visits, but I will try.  We can't afford $720/month for therapy so we will most likely drop down to OT once a week or even 2x's per month.  It was suggested that we could even take a break during the Summer with OT.  I would hate to do that, but we'll see.

Logan has his big evaluation with the developmental pediatrician in July so I'm hoping to at least continue therapy until then.  Hopefully in July we will either have a diagnosis or not.  Some days I'm certain Logan is on the spectrum and then there are other days where I'm just not sure.  I just want to give him as many tools as I can to make him as happy and successful as possible.  I'm really relying on Dr. Fasci to guide me through this.

After school we played out back in the water. After spending almost 5 hours cleaning the house a nice coffee and lemon water while relaxing in a chair were just the ticket. Now I just need to find motivation to make dinner.

Eeyore's birthday

The kids slept great last night but I was up from 2am on.  Why?  Because the jerk next to me wouldn't stop snoring.  Even after repeated body checks and giving him his precious tempurpedic pillow back.  He's close to getting kicked to the guest room.  After looking at my face at 4:45am this morning I gasped out loud.  For real.  I had bags under my eyes so big that it looked like I was having some sort of allergic reaction.  Awesome!  I almost put on makeup before hitting the gym.  But that's just stupid so I didn't.

Eeyore's birthday was Saturday.  We got there nice and early and planned on staying just until the super crazy drunk naked idiots came out.  Apparently they start arriving at 1:30pm.  It was fun for a few hours.  Isabel and Logan both got their faces painted and hair sprayed pink and red.  Logan was getting a temporary tattoo and the guy took literally 10 minutes and went through 2 tattoos to try and get it on.  It's a temporary tattoo.  Not that difficult.  He told us that volunteers get free beer.  Ah ha.  That explains why putting a little sticker on a kid was so difficult.  Logan was so patient but I was like 'dude, PLEASE hurry this up.'

The nice thing about the party is that it's free and they let pretty much any organization set up a food tent or tent to sell stuff.  So we had inexpensive lunch that actually benefited a cause.  Love that.  After we participated in the May Pole (is that supposed to be capitalized?) and saw some of the drum circle we left.  It was fun!

Sunday we just did house and lawn work and then used a Groupon at Cafe Buenos Aires.  It was SO good.  They make homemade chicken nuggets for the kids meals.  Delicious.

The pictures are out of order once again.  I just don't have any more efforts to put forth to get them in order.  Sorry.

Isabel made flags out of toilet paper rolls.  So cute and creative.

Just a random piece of 'art.'

End of the May Pole.

Brian:  Listen kids.  Look at the freaking camera so Mom can get one damn picture.

Logan:  Seriously......this tattoo has taken 10 minutes man!

Square hair.
Drum circle.  About time the nudies came out.  We left about 2 seconds later.
Someone had a lot of fun!
I just love Isabel's face.

Tired Friday

I can barely keep my eyes open this afternoon. I'm so tired. I read in a magazine something about needing 7-9 hours of sleep for optimal weight loss. Hahahahaha. Who gets that much sleep?! My energy levels have been about -40918 units this week. Nothing besides laundry and the kitchen floor and maybe a bathroom has been cleaned this week.

I can't think of anyone else to say so here are some pictures. Isabel got her coste for he recital. The factory ran out of yellow fabric so they ended up with pink. Isabel was just a tiny bit excited.

I tried some stuff on with a friend while the kids were at school yesterday. I loved that blazer. LOVED it. But, where would I wear it? It went back on the rack.

Camp Mabry Open House

Camp Mabry (home to the TX Air, Army and State National Guards) had its annual open house over the weekend.  Whenever we drive by we always comment that we should take the kids one weekend.  They have jet fighters on display that you can see from the highway and the kids always love to see them when we pass by.  So we headed out Sunday morning and got there pretty early (around 10:30am or so).  We saw that they had some cool demonstrations scheduled for noon that we wanted to see.  When we got there they had the a few things for the kids.  A bounce house, very small petting zoo, and pony rides.  They all cost money.  The bounce house was $3.  The pony ride was $5.  I have no problem paying money for stuff like this, but I just thought that the money would go to some sort of good cause.  Nope.  Paying $3 for Isabel to sit and stare at the tractor ride (which I said we couldn't go on) inside the bounce house irritated me.  What a rip off.  Like I said, if the money was going to some sort of good cause and not just the random company they contracted the stuff to I would have been happy to let Isabel sulk inside the bounce house.
Logan in the bounce house.

Isabel absolutely thrilled to be on a pony.

Wishing we would fork over the $ to let her ride the stupid train.

We hit up the helicopters they had set up.  It was so fun to watch the kids (especially Logan) freak out about going into them.  While we were walking across the parade ground the DPS helicopter almost landed on top of me.  Very literally.  They don't give you much warning in Texas.  You're on your own to get the eff out of the way!  The officer landed and then let the kids climb all over the thing.  No warnings, no signs, nothing.  It was awesome!  He was taking up the parachuters for their demo a couple of hours later and had hundreds of little kids pulling on every control.  I was like 'uh, I hope you triple check all of the controls before you go!'  He was like 'oh, they can't do too much damage.'  Ha!

Woohoo!

Watching the helicopter land.

Logan looks a little worried!

Joy!

After climbing around it was time for lunch and to grab a spot on the ground to get ready for the demo!

They were apprehending the bad guy in the red truck.

Someone was injured so they sent out the medical flare.

Lifting the injured guy to safety.

It was a fun few hours.  Nothing but the usual going on this week.

Edited to add:  We did the garage sale bright and early Saturday morning.  It was a bust.  Unfortunately none of our immediate neighbors participated like they had in years past and people didn't stop unless they saw something catch their eye.  Since we didn't have much furniture hardly anyone stopped.  We made enough cash to buy dinner out, but that was about it.  At least we cleared out some closets and filled up the truck to make a Goodwill run.  I'm still going to try and sell a few things on Craig's list.
